Ever since 1941, when Mervin Shuter and his father,

Leslie, purchased the first Red Poll Heifer for Mervin to

show in 4-H, Shuter Sunset Farms has been focusing

on raising premium quality, tender, great tasting beef

for our own families. 

 

With the advent of the Indiana Farm Fresh Beef program,

you now have the opportunity to enjoy the fruits of four

generations of passion for raising the best beef possible. 

 

The Red Poll breed has been identified by the USDA

Meat Animal Research Center to be one of the breeds of cattle that produce the most naturally tender beef.

 

Our animals are fed home raised feeds, and developed with no implants or growth promotants to ensure that the beef you take home retains the maximum level of tenderness possible.  Besides the Red Poll cattle that we raise, we purchase Angus influenced calves from local neighbors to finish out as well. 

 

Whether you are looking for Angus beef or our special tender Red Poll beef, we are positive that you will appreciate the time honored tradition of raising only the best, the tradition that has been passed along for many generations here at Shuter Sunset Farms.

Text Box: Our Pricing We are happy to partner with Marsh’s Meat Processing of Mechanicsburg to offer you our Farm Fresh Beef. Due to the layout of Kevin’s facilities, our most fair option is to price our beef on a hot carcass weight basis. Contact us for our current pricing. You will also be responsible for paying the processing costs as these will change according to your cutting instructions. Marsh’s is currently charging a base $30 per head plus $0.36 per lb hot carcass weight to harvest, cut and wrap your beef and can pre-patty your hamburger for $0.35 per lb of hamburger. All of the listed prices subject to change of course. Remember, there are bones and fat that will be removed during processing that will make a difference between the hot carcass weight (that you are paying for) and the actual amount of beef that you will be taking home. We have carefully calculated those items into the cost of our beef. Feel free to compare our prices to those prices you will find at the grocery store. We are confident that you can’t purchase the same amount of high-quality beef and get the same great taste through the grocery store for the same amount of money.
